Day 4, 28th February

This is today's trip...

By 8:00am Kevin had the bike packed and headed to the track.

It's a coolish day, and overcast, but no rain! woohoo!

At 9:00am it was quite a gloomy looking day just like yesterday but the sun is trying hard to come out.
The start of the first race commenced, but no Xaus... He and Haga had a coming together at the end of the main straight, and by the time the race began, Xaus wasn't feeling very confident and decided to stay in the pits.

This afternoon's trip...

Corser finished in ninth place, and Kevin could hear the road calling, so he climbed on board the GS and hit the road to Port Phillip to check in with the safari and wait to be boarded.

For those interested and to answer some arguments, the distance between Port Melbourne and Devonport is 452 klms according to Google.

Is there a BMW Safari starting from here today?  Wow, there were what seemed to be hundreds, parked anywhere and everywhere.

Everywhere you looked there were wall to wall BMWs.
Among the BMW were also many familiar faces from both Newcastle and the local area as well as people met from the last Safari.
The Spirit of Tasmania finally comes in view and walking this way is Keith, a man Kevin met on the last Safari to Cairns.

I'm sure Kevin will be looking forward to catching up with Keith again, sharing a few laughs and hitting the road again with a familiar face.

Mind you there were quite a few faces from Newcastle waiting to board as well.

Through a customs check and all the bikes had to form two long rows to be checked in for boarding and have the bikes tied down for the evening.
These giant rear doors are the exit for all those that are embarking.  In through the front of the ship and out through the rear, a very smooth operation.
Waiting for the final gate to open and for us all to board, the ship suddenly looked even bigger.
With bikes tied down, cabins located and more comfortable attire, it was time to find the bar and listen to the rider's briefing for tomorrow's ride to Strahan.
